Advanced English Conversation and Activities

本課程專為中-高級英文程度學員設計

本課程提供趣味與生活化的主題讓已有中高級英語能力的學員能夠繼續練習保持相當的英文程度。

本課程設計以10堂課涵蓋

 【教學內容】

本課程旨為以英語為第二外語，提供學員全英語授課環境，透過有趣的課堂互動，以訓練口語表達能力、聽力和閱讀技能。最重要的是，這是一門需要學員們積極參與及極具挑戰性的小組討論及練習課程，適合英語程度在中等以上學員。

本課程主題涵蓋如下:

• 時事討論
• 熱門或爭議性議題研討(如：生活成本、環境問題、人工智能興起、加密貨幣、投資、動物權利等。)
• 普通英語會話及溝通(如：銀行開戶、醫院探訪、消費申訴等。)
• 個人生活及職業運用
• 國外旅行、生活及工作
• 食物、烹飪及購物
• 健康及運動健身

課程中將進行各種小組活動，如：團隊問題解決、創意思考活動、桌上遊戲等。

由於預先安排固定僵化課程並不實際，因此，本課程將適時地配合學生程度及興趣彈性調整及修正。歐老師統於前一週提供隔週之課程主題，以利學員進行課前預習與準備。

Course Description:

This course is intended as a venue for adult users of English as a second language to keep their speaking, listening and reading skills sharp in a fun and socially interactive environment. We will include some instruction, but more than anything, this is a place where you can take part in engaging and challenging group discussions and activities.

The course is suitable for students with upper-intermediate and above English levels.

Course Syllabus

During this and subsequent classes, we will touch on a number of topics, including:

• Current events
• Topical and/or controversial issues, such as the cost of living, environmental concerns, the rise of AI, cryptocurrencies, investing, animal rights, etc.
• Managing common tasks in English (for example: opening a bank account, visiting a hospital, making a consumer complaint)
• Personal and professional life
• Travel, living and working abroad
• Food, cooking, and shopping
• Health and exercise

We will also engage in a variety of group activities, such as team problem solving, creative thinking exercises, board games, etc.

Note that this class is designed to adapt to students’ interests and abilities. Because of this, prearranging a rigid week-by-week schedule is not practicable. I will, however, post our upcoming class topics in advance each week. This allows us to be flexible in our course content, while also allowing students a chance to preview materials before class if they wish.

Course Materials

The course comes with an activity handbook which I will distribute to all students at the beginning of the course. The handbook costs $85.

In addition to the course handbook, we will use a variety of audiovisual, online, and printed handout materials.

【經歷】

歐老師具有20年以上大學英語教學經驗，過去曾任教於國立陽明醫學大學、中國文化大學；現任教於國防大學語文中心和國立台灣師範大學進修推廣學院教授學術和商業高級寫作和演講。

歐老師同時也是職業漫畫家，於過去的25年內出版超過4000篇以上的漫畫及插圖作品，刊登於世界各大報社及財經雜誌，如《華爾街日報》、《星期六晚間郵報》、《亞洲華爾街日報》和《遠東經濟評論》等等。

Professional Experience

I have over 20 years of experience teaching ESL at the tertiary level in Taiwan. During that time I have taught at National Yang Ming University, Chinese Culture University and National Defense University.

I’m also a professional cartoonist who has had more than four-thousand cartoons and illustrations published over the past eighteen years. My work has appeared all over the world in numerous publications including the Wall Street Journal, the Saturday Evening Post, Asia Wall Street Journal and the Far Eastern Economic Review.

2. 未開班退費、因個人因素申請退費，本院辦理學員退費入帳所需時間約4週。
3. 需完成註冊及繳費才視為報名成功。未完成繳費者視同未報名成功，不保留名額。
4. 若該班「額滿」，而您尚未繳費，則請勿繳費，若您誤繳學費則為您辦理全額退費或轉班。
5. 課程不提供旁聽服務，一經報名亦不得轉讓他人。

10. 結業證明書自結業日期起保留1年，逾期資料不予保留，須自費申請結業證明書補發。
11. 非學分班學員修業期滿，凡該班缺課時數達三分之一者，即不發給結業證明書。（EX：課程總時數為30小時，缺課時數達10小時即不發給結業證明書）
